Having the ability to glide while floating on fresh snow makes us free and happy, a few moments of dynamic balance with the very essence of nature: snow. This freedom is a luxury that sometimes comes at a high price. There are no traffic lights that tell us when it is possible to cross a slope without danger and every choice can hide a great responsibility. We professionals who live every day in the mountains know what it means. Before being able to have fun, there is the duty to learn how to decode the semiotics of the mountain without going beyond the limits of one’s own and others’ respect. Each time it is necessary to move the fence that delimits the acceptable risk by adapting the perimeter in relation to all the factors of the case. When luck favors the bold it is never a victory but a negative experience.
